University of Sheffield Distance Learners and Part Time Students

As a distance learner, provided you can access the internet with a modern web-browser - it should be possible for you to access the electronic web-based resources and services provided by The University of Sheffield.  All resources are available via StarPlus.  Please make sure you log in to access resources and follow the links.

This includes the Library's electronic journals, books and ebooks and subject databases.

NHS Staff

Access to the University of Sheffield's full electronic library is available to all clinicians with honorary status at the University of Sheffield. This includes most of the consultants and many of the registrars working in STH, SCH and the associated teaching hospitals.  You will need a University of Sheffield UCard and be given and username and password. To apply for a UCard please see the below link for further information.

  1. Open up the Library homepage
  2. Click on the link to the Library Catalogue, StarPlus
  3. In StarPlus click on ‘University members’ in the top right-hand corner and type in your username and password which has been provided by CiCS. Your name should appear in the top right-hand corner.

You can now search the catalogue for all the Library’s print and electronic resources. Take a look at our StarPlus tutorial to make sure you find what you need.
