Remember that if you are spending longer hours studying you need to take a break from time to time - check out our Health and wellbeing page.

You can take a break for up to 45 minutes whilst studying in the libraries and learning spaces. Just pick up a study break pass, fill in the time slot and place it on your desk when you leave. If you are going to be away for more than 45 minutes please take your belongings with you. Passes are available from any of our customer help points and throughout the library sites.

  • Our study break pass scheme runs throughout the year and is not restricted just to busy periods.
  • If you are away for longer than 45 minutes you are at risk of your belongings being moved to one side by other students or staff.
  • If you feel uncomfortable moving someone’s belongings, ask a member of staff and we’ll do it for you.
  • Always take your valuables with you, even on short breaks. Belongings are left unattended at your own risk.

Study break passes can help prevent misunderstandings over vacant spaces, and help more people find a study space at busy times of year. Working together we can make the library a welcoming place to study!
