All laptops loaned in libraries can be used anywhere in the building they are borrowed from, however they cannot be taken out of the building

  • Laptops can be loaned during staffed hours at Western Bank Library and Health Sciences Library Royal Hallamshire Hospital. It is advisable to book ahead; bookings can be made up to 2 days in advance through the 'Resource Bookings' facility in MUSE. You will need to collect and return your laptop from the information desks.
  • 24 hour self-service laptops are available at the Information Commons in the self-service area on Level 0, and The Diamond on Level 4. These laptops are available 24 hours a day on a first-come first-served basis.
  • You will need your UCard and PIN number to use this service, and the laptop will take up one slot on your library account.

How to return a laptop

When you return a laptop you need to plug the charger cable (inside the cabinet) back in, as this is how the system recognises it has been returned. If you don’t plug it back in the laptop will remain on your account.
