What is Mendeley?

Mendeley is an example of reference management software, and is available free of charge to anyone online; the desktop version is also available through the Software Centre. Once the software is downloaded, you must sign up for an account on the Mendeley website. Mendeley can generate citations and bibliographies in a range of referencing styles and enables you to capture information and import documents.

Mendeley web importer and citations

Mendeley's web importer allows you to share and annotate documents with colleagues, and to directly import papers, web pages and other documents from search engines and academic databases. Mendeley's Microsoft Word plugin also allows you cite as you type, with over 1000 citations styles available.

What is Mendeley's compatibility?

Mendeley is compatible with Windows, Mac OS and Linux operating systems. It can also be accessed on mobile devices using the app., which is available on both the Apple and Android mobile platforms. The Mendeley library is cloud-based so can be accessed anywhere in the world.
