To use EndNote with Google Docs you must first have an EndNote 2025 account. See this entry on how to get EndNote 2025 free of charge through the university. You can also access EndNote 2025 and create an account using a university networked PC.

Cite While You Write directly integrates with your Endnote 2025 or Endnote 21 Web Account. Endnote Web is where you can store your reference library for use with Google Docs.

More information about how to install the Endnote Cite While you Write extension is available from Clarivate here

The next step is to get the EndNote Cite While you Write extension for your google docs and sign in using your EndNote credentials. With that done, you are presented with a more streamlined interface for inserting and editing citations. As with Word the reference list is added automatically.
Note: You don’t need the EndNote 2025 application open or even installed on the device you’re using to use EndNote with Google Docs.
