The library has close to one million ebooks that can be accessed by registered students and staff through StarPlus.

You can access ebooks from anywhere, …. anytime

Discovering ebooks via StarPlus

Publishers provide access to their ebooks through different platforms. Some are exclusively ebook platforms, others give access to a variety of online academic content alongside ebooks. However, all ebooks we have access to are discoverable via StarPlus, no matter which platform they are hosted on.

You will also be able to read Open Access ebooks from scholarly projects and institutional partnerships.

When you find an ebook on StarPlus you will be directed to the relevant platform to access it.

1. From any University web page, click on My Services, then select StarPlus

  • You can search for an ebook by title by typing it into the search box.
  • You can also use keywords to search for ebooks related to a topic

2. Select books from the drop down menu and click search.

3. Select the Available Online filter from the Refine my Results menu.

4. Click the Available Online link under the title of an ebook. This will take you through to its information page.

Please see the video below and the  Research Skills and Critical Thinking Tutorial on 'Discovering and Using eBooks Effectively'  for further information.

We have guidance on other options if you can’t find a resource in StarPlus.

When planning your reading, bear in mind that some ebooks may have limits to the number of users that can access them simultaneously (called concurrent user limits).

You may need to "request" an ebook if the concurrent user limit has been reached. If so, follow the instructions to do this and you will be notified when the book is made available.

If we do not have a book you require, please submit our Library Resource Recommendation Form, and we will do our best to get it for you.
