If you wish to access the Library for the day and look at material on a reference-only basis, a Temporary Library Card can be obtained at:

You will need to bring photo ID and proof of date of birth with you. The card will last for three weeks and you will need to bring it with you every time you visit the Library. You can use a temporary card to enter the Library while your membership application is being processed.

Please note: visitors aged 17 or under can apply for a temporary library card or an external reader card if your date of birth is on or before 31/08/2001. Visitors born after this date can only enter if accompanied by a responsible adult.

Visitor access to library sites is during staffed hours only, so please check opening times before you travel. Western Bank is the only site staffed at weekends that visitors can access.

We strongly encourage all visitors to also join the Library as a member.

Chat is available during staffed hours.
