StarPlus has an automatic citation generator tool, which will display an example citation for an item in different referencing styles. This can be useful if you want to view an example of a citation in a certain referencing style, or quickly check a detail such as the publisher name.

You can access this tool by clicking on the title of the item, then selecting the Citation icon from the 'Send to' menu:

The available styles are:

  • Harvard Cite Them Right
  • Harvard
  • AIP
  • APA (6th & 7th editions)
  • IEEE
  • MHRA
  • MLA (7th & 8th editions)
  • OSCOLA
  • Vancouver
  • Chicago/Turabian (16th edition)

Generated citations should be used as a guide or starting point, and you need to carefully check all references before including them in your work. Always refer to your departmental referencing style guide for more in-depth guidance and examples.
